5 Tips To Increase Privacy on Your Property

Site Administrator • Nov 02, 2022

Household privacy is exceedingly important. You can't do much if you think people peep through your window at night. Instead of wondering if you have a peeping tom, it might be wise to put your mind at ease and implement more privacy measures in your home. Check out our tips to increase privacy on your property below.

Plant Trees and Hedges

Who doesn't want to get in touch with nature? Large trees don't just look good on your front lawn and in your backyard. They're amazing privacy measures. They can block out sunlight and the line of sight from windows and less private areas in your front and back yards. Keep in mind it might take a while for hedges to grow tall enough to have this function, but you can certainly enjoy their beauty in the meantime. As an aesthetic solution, there’s not much that can top it.

Build a Fence

This is a more convenient option. A privacy fence is usually higher than most people, and, depending on the type of fence, no one can see through it. Most of them can be anywhere from seven to eight feet tall. If your outdoor space feels too exposed, you can quickly reduce visibility and increase your security by having a fence installed.

Frost or Fog Your Windows

What if you want to allow light in but keep things private? Frosted and fogged windows are great solutions for this problem. It allows outside light to come in without any visibility. It's usually relatively inexpensive and gives your home a luxurious look. Beyond being aesthetically pleasing, it's a great way to keep your home's interior private. This is a key way to increase privacy on your property.

Enclosed Patio

Getting an enclosed custom deck or patio is a great way to improve privacy in your home. You can even hang plants and other flora over it. Alternatively, you can install a screen or tinted glass window to increase privacy and security. Not only will it offer you shade in the summer, but it'll also offer comfort for everyone involved during events.

Install a Trellis

It may be wise to build a trellis if you can't get hedges or a property fence due to your property’s layout. Installing a trellis can help reduce visibility and turn away prying eyes. It's also an excellent decorative framework for the holidays and can increase the aesthetic appeal of your house tremendously.

Overall, we hope these ideas give you food for thought when considering how to increase the privacy on your property.
